
IPC Researcher & Project Coordinator / İstanbul Policy Center
Dursun Baş serves as a researcher and coordinator in the “Decarbonization of the Turkish Steel Sector Project” (2022-ongoing) and the “Promoting the Just Transition in Turkey Project” (2023-ongoing) conducted by IPC. Between 2020 and 2023, he worked as a Project Coordinator in the Cobenefits Project, supported by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Safety (BMU) as part of the International Climate Initiative (IKI), with IPC as a knowledge partner. A graduate of METU Biological Sciences and METU Environmental Engineering departments, Baş completed his master’s degree in the Department of Earth System Sciences at METU. With expertise in technical consultancy and project management, Baş has held project management positions at the Regional Environmental Center (REC) Turkey and the Nature Conservation Center (DKM). He has served as a consultant/expert on over 20 projects supported by the European Commission, government agencies, local governments, and international organizations in the fields of international and national environmental management, nature conservation, and climate policy. He has contributed to the preparation of numerous publications and reports on European Union (EU) Environmental Acquis.
