Mehmet Çakmur, who graduated from METU Industrial Engineering, started his professional career in 1990 and worked in various positions in iron and steel industry. In 2017, he established M Steel Ltd., which provides trade, consultancy and agency services in iron and steel, which still continues its operations. Çakmur is also the vice chairman of the board of directors of the Steel Foreign Trade Association (ÇDTD), which he pioneered the establishment of, and a board member of the Flat Steel Exporters and Industrialists Association (YİSAD).
